The Yamaha YTR‑8335LAII (also known as the Custom LA Gen II) is a professional-level Bb trumpet developed in partnership with renowned jazz and studio player Wayne Bergeron. Built for high-end versatility across jazz, big band, orchestral settings, and studio work, it refines Yamaha’s flagship “Custom” model series.
Mouthpieces
The mouthpiece I now use for the majority of my work.
The GR LD T1.0 is a shallow, high-efficiency lead mouthpiece designed with Louis Dowdeswell, offering great range, power, and a bright, focused sound for upper-register playing.
The mouthpiece I use for lower demand, higher precision gigs.
The Schilke 13B: A versatile mouthpiece with a medium cup and comfortable rim, offering a warm tone and good flexibility—suitable for both classical and jazz settings.
A mouthpiece I bring out occasionally for fun.
The Yamaha Bobby Shew Lead: Designed for lead trumpet, it features a shallow cup and tight backbore, delivering a bright, powerful sound with easy upper register response and control.
